You too could help Mariana recover from this tragedy

A lot has been said about the mining accident in Mariana, interior of the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, which also brought terrible consequences for the nearby cities and the state of Espirito Santo.

At the same time, there’s a lot of people interested in helping the victims. Do you know what’s the best way to help the local population? Visiting the city!

Mariana survives on tourism. This is one of the most important historical cities in the country. Founded in 1696, it preserves lots of churches, mansions and monuments from the colonial Brazil, when this region was rich in gold.

The city center and the historical center were not affected by the disaster. Many people have been canceling their hotel reservations or opting to visit other places. Please don’t do that! Mariana, more than ever, needs us!

And you? What did you think? Any more Tips to share?

That’s really heartbreaking and I hope people continue to visit so that the tourism can help rebuild the city. It would be such a waste to let go of this beautiful place just because of the tragedy that had struck it.
